The “Select” Whisky by Laphroaig is a Single Malt from the famous island of Islay, which belongs to the Inner Hebrides archipelago, a group of islands off the western coast of Scotland. It is a Whisky that comes from a careful blend of fine Single Malts aged for a long time in various types of wood, in order to soften the profile of the distillate and enrich it with refined tertiary notes, which amplify its charm and complexity. Like all great Islay Whiskies, it is characterized by the typical smoky, marine, and briny aromas, which constitute the distinctive hallmark of the famous distillates from this region, particularly loved by the greatest connoisseurs and enthusiasts.
The “Select” is a Single Malt Whisky produced by one of the most famous distilleries on the island of Islay. Laphroaig represents a piece of history of Scottish Whisky. Founded in the early 1800s, it still preserves the old stone buildings by the sea and the oldest traditions in the field of distillation. The barley is malted using ovens fueled by peat, which gives the characteristic smoky sensations. The distillation is still carried out today in the old copper pot stills and the Whisky is reduced in strength using pure water from local springs. The ancient know-how based on respect for traditions and the classic peaty and iodine territorial notes make Laphroaig labels excellences appreciated by the greatest Whisky connoisseurs.
The “Select” Single Malt by Laphroaig is a Whisky made with a selection of Single Malts. At the end of the distillation process, the Whisky begins a long and intricate maturation period in wood before being bottled. It ages in barrels previously used for aging the fragrant Andalusian wines Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez from Jerez de la Frontera and in barrels used for American Bourbon, Quarter Cask, with a final passage in new American oak barrels. In the glass, it presents a golden yellow color with bright and shiny reflections. On the nose, it expresses an intense bouquet, with slightly smoky, citrus notes, lime zest, yellow fruit, honeyed sensations, hints of vanilla and licorice. The sip is soft and enveloping, with an entrance on the palate of rich fruity sweetness, which unfolds harmoniously towards a long and persistent finish, returning to toasty and spicy sensations. It is the perfect whisky to start getting to know the style of Islay.
