Vermentino del Salento Notte Rossa 2023

The Vermentino di Notte Rossa is a fresh and fruity wine, produced with the homonymous white grape variety, traditionally grown in Sardinia, Corsica, the Eastern Ligure Riviera, and the Tuscan Coast. Vermentino has adapted well to the Mediterranean climate of Salento, where it expresses itself at very interesting levels. It is, in fact, a variety that loves the sun and the wind, two elements that certainly are not lacking in Puglia and allow for excellent maturation with remarkable aromatic intensity. The pleasant citrus and fruity notes make the wine harmonious and balanced, ideal to pair with a seafood menu, particularly with pasta with clams or seafood.

The white Vermentino is made by a Puglian wine company operating in the Sava area, in the province of Taranto. Notte Rosa, in addition to focusing on enhancing the grapes historically grown in Puglia, has found in Vermentino a grape variety that allows for the production of a white wine with great character, to be paired with the more traditional Verdeca and Fiano. The Vermentino vineyards are cultivated at about 100meters above sea level, on medium-textured soils with the presence of sand and skeleton. The sunny climate is always mitigated by sea breezes, which create a perfect habitat for grape maturation. At the end of the harvest, the bunches are subjected for a few hours to a cold pre-fermentation maceration, in order to extract all the aromas. After soft pressing, the free-run must is fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature for about two weeks. Before bottling, the wine rests for a few months in stainless steel tanks.

The Vermentino di Notte Rossa wine is one of the most successful versions made outside the classic cultivation areas. It is one of the most pleasant whites for its typically Mediterranean, warm, and sunny profile. A marine wine that presents itself with a bright straw-yellow color.
