Italian brand Moon Import presents Rum Fiji 17 Anni, a distillate with exceptionally varied and intriguing aromas made from sugar cane grown in the Fiji Islands and aged in oak barrels for 17 years, hence the name. Fiji is an archipelago located in Oceania, north of New Zealand, in the Pacific Ocean. These are beautiful and special places rich in pristine jungles that are home to a very diverse fauna.
Moon Import's Rum Fiji 17 Anni originates from sugar cane plants grown in Fiji. Pressing and processing the ripe sugar cane yields the molasses, which is then left to ferment. After a few days, the fermented product is distilled in Pot Still discontinuous stills and the resulting liquid is transferred to Scotland for the ageing phase, which takes place in oak casks previously used to mature whisky. The decision to age rum in Scotland is due to the particular climatic conditions of the country, which create an ideal environment for the optimal sensory evolution of rum, as well as the long-standing tradition of the Scottish people, who are the most skilled in the art of distilled spirit maturation. The ageing process takes a full 17 years and the rum is finally bottled and marketed under the Moon Import brand.
To the eye, Moon Import's Rum Fiji 17 Years presents itself with a deep gold colour with amber highlights. Vivid and complex hints of honey, tropical fruit and flowers characterise the olfactory texture along with hints of dried and candied fruit. The taste is warm and sweet, intense and enveloping, with a delicately spicy and citrusy finish.
