The Gavi “Rovereto” is a wine that presents itself with a business card made up of sapidity and freshness. Two important characteristics that contribute to making the drinking experience pleasant and smooth, allowing us to discover one of the few historic crus of the entire Gavi denomination, the Rovereto. A terroir where clayey marls and stones dominate, giving the wine its typical mineral imprint. A label that never disappoints, always worth considering.

The Chiarlo Gavi “Rovereto” is made from pure Cortese grapes, an indigenous white grape variety that finds its ideal place in the area south of Alessandria. It is precisely here that one of the most historic crus for its cultivation is located, the Rovereto, where the Michele Chiarlo winery owns five hectares of vineyards, situated at an altitude between 400 and 500 meters above sea level and facing southeast. The cultivated vines are about 15 years old and root in a terroir characterized by a subsoil mainly composed of marls, stones, and clays. A part of the grapes, once harvested, undergoes cryomaceration; then pressing and fermentation in steel containers follow. The wine then remains in steel to refine for 5 months on the lees.

The white Gavi “Rovereto” reveals itself visually with a deep color, reminiscent of straw yellow. The aromas that envelop the nose tell of herbaceous and floral sensations, from which more mineral notes also emerge. On the palate, it is light-bodied, crisp, with a broad sip that moves on a salty and fresh progression; it ends with a finish characterized by a persistent aftertaste. A label with which the Michele Chiarlo winery presents a wine that feels at home in the gastronomic realm, pairing especially well with those dishes where fish and shellfish play the leading roles.
