The Barolo Bussia by Luigi Einaudi is one of the flagship labels of this historic winery in the Langhe. As per tradition, it is produced with pure Nebbiolo grapes that come from the vineyards of the Bussia cru, among the most prestigious and highly regarded in the municipality of Monforte d'Alba. This is a very classic version of Barolo, which, faithful to the oldest traditions of the area, involves a long aging in large barrels. As is customary in the Bussia area, it is a red that combines elegance and important structure, with deep and complex aromas that give the sip a remarkable taste persistence.
The Bussia is a great expression of the Langhe territory made by one of the most famous names in the Barolo denomination. The Luigi Einaudi winery manages some particularly valuable vineyards in different areas of the territory and has been producing wines with a typically traditional face for centuries. The estate extends over 145 hectares, of which only about forty are cultivated as vineyards, with some parcels in some of the most highly regarded crus in the entire Langhe territory. The extraordinary quality of the grapes from the Bussia area allows for the creation of a high-end label dedicated to those who love characterful Barolo, destined for long aging. This is a splendid expression of the territory, which, thanks to a classic and careful production process, returns the timeless charm of a great cru.
The Barolo Bussia wine from the famous Luigi Einaudi winery is the result of the company's most recent acquisition, which now also has a vineyard of about 6 hectares in this cru. The calcareous-clay marls of the area give the wines richness, structure, and great longevity, with tertiary evolutions of extreme elegance. The vineyard is located at an altitude of 300-350 meters, with a south and southwest exposure. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and concrete tanks at a controlled temperature of about 30 °C and with a maceration on the skins of 3 weeks. The wine matures in large oak barrels for 30 months and completes the aging with 6 months in the bottle. It presents an intense ruby red color with garnet reflections. The profile olfactory profile recalls the scents of violet, dried rose petals, aromas of small red berry fruits, and delicate spicy notes. On the palate, it has a good structure, with tannins well integrated into the body of the wine and complex, elegant, and deep aromas. The finish is long, fresh, and mineral.
