Langhe winemaker Enzo Boglietti presents his Barolo 'Brunate,' an interpretation of the La Morra cru of the same name with a balsamic breath. The estate's production philosophy aims to offer wines that are recognizable not only for the grape variety but also for the area of origin, always seeking the most faithful manifestation of the different Barolo vineyards. In addition, the goal of Enzo Boglietti, now assisted by his daughter Linda and Matteo, is to produce Barolo wines that are more refined and graceful than in the past, adopting tricks such as less use of new wood and shorter aging.
Enzo Boglietti's Barolo 'Brunate' comes from only Nebbiolo grapes from a vineyard planted in 2005 on loamy, clay and limestone soils that are very poor in organic matter. The altitude is between 300 and 350 meters above sea level while the exposure is south and southeast. Following manual harvesting and careful selection, the clusters are destemmed and crushed, with alcoholic fermentation lasting 28 days at a controlled temperature associated with two daily punching-downs. Aging initially takes place in large oak barrels, where the wine rests for 24 months, and then continues in cement tanks for 10 months before bottling and further resting for 6 months in glass.
Enzo Boglietti Barolo 'Brunate' has a deep ruby red color with a garnet rim. The olfactory range stretches over scents of red fruits, underbrush, dried flowers and balsamic herbs, followed by pleasant mineral and spicy aromas. In the mouth it is soft and fresh at the same time, with a velvety tannic texture and a very persistent savory finish that recalls the balsamic and spicy sensations of the nose.
