This white grape variety has been widespread in Piemonte since at least the 1700s and seems to be native to the territory of the province of Alessandria, where Luca Canevaro's winery is located. Piemonte producers have always held this grape variety in high regard, probably due to the graceful characteristics of the wine that results from it. Regarding the etymology, there are two hypotheses: one refers to the 'courteous' and delicate aromas of the wine, while the other attributes the name's origin to the fact that Cortese was the favorite grape of the Genoese court.

Luca Canevaro ‘Garbato’ Cortese is made exclusively from grapes of the same name, cultivated according to the principles of certified organic farming. The vines, aged between 20 and 30 years, are rooted in clay soils at an altitude of 300-350 meters above sea level. The harvest is carried out by hand, and the bunches are then subjected to a gentle pressing followed by the alcoholic fermentation of the must in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, in order to preserve the aromas. After a few months of aging in steel, the wine is finally bottled.

The Cortese ‘Garbato’ by Luca Canevaro has a light straw-yellow color. The nose offers delicate and fragrant aromas of white-fleshed fruit and lemon zest, enriched by floral hints and fine mineral nuances. A graceful and refreshing taste development, characterized by a slightly savory persistence on the finish. An excellent Cortese to pair with light-structured dishes such as appetizers or seafood first courses.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0668/1860/5335/files/cortese-garbato-luca-canevaro-2021_52136_286e2036-d5b8-420b-a963-987d80cca9ce.jpg?v=1775575645
